This is an independent website designed to combine information from the relevant authorities involved in the proposed extension of the Speyside Way .

The Speyside Way is one of four official Long Distance Routes in Scotland . The first section of the route was opened in 1982 with extensions following in 1990, 1999 and 2000. The route now links the Moray coast with the edge of the Grampian Mountains , generally following the valley of the River Spey. Newtonmore is the southernmost village to meet the criteria for a LDR terminal and the principle of extending the Speyside Way to the village was confirmed in April 2000. The proposed extension is still ongoing.

Through these pages you can access information and documentation regarding the planned extension of the Speyside Way from Aviemore to Newtonmore.

These pages also operate as a forum from which all areas of society can comment on issues arising with the development of this project.

All future decisions and relative documentation will be added to this site when it is released.

This site aims to cater for all those involved with this project: locals, tourists, local businesses and land holders and provides useful links to those interested in the footpath, the area and the extension itself.

It is also worth noting that this website aims to help towards the e-government initiative with an overall target that 100% of all public services which can feasibly be provided online should be available by 2005. Official documentation on this initiative can be found here.
